Important notice—classic account upgrade

2026-09-01 02:141853
To continuously enhance your trading experience, Bitget will begin migrating eligible classic account users to a unified trading account starting September 15, 2026.
The unified trading account (UTA) is Bitget's newly upgraded account system, integrating spot, margin, and futures accounts into a single account, and supports shared multi-asset margin for higher capital efficiency and a more convenient trading experience.

1. Eligible users

This upgrade applies to classic account users who meet all of the following requirements:
  • The account holds spot assets only.
  • The account has no open margin or futures positions.
  • The account has no outstanding liabilities.
  • The account is not linked to an API key.

2. Upgrade schedule and process

The upgrade will begin on September 15, 2026, and will be carried out in batches based on user activity. No action is required from you—the system will complete the upgrade automatically. After the upgrade is complete, please note the following:
  • You will need to log in to the Bitget app again.
  • Bitget will automatically transfer eligible assets in your existing spot, margin, and futures accounts to your unified trading account.
  • Main accounts and sub-accounts will be upgraded separately. Main accounts can switch back to a classic account, while sub-accounts cannot.

3. Account mode and collateral after the upgrade

After the upgrade, your unified trading account will default to Basic Mode, with USDT and USDC enabled as margin collateral—a setting that cannot be disabled. In Basic Mode:

Important risk notice: Ensure that you fully understand the following risks before switching modes.
1. Increased liquidation risk: In Advanced Mode, multiple assets in your account are used collectively as cross margin. When your overall account risk ratio decreases, all positions may be subject to liquidation, with losses potentially exceeding those of a single position—so ensure you have sufficient risk tolerance.
2. Collateral value fluctuation risk for non-stablecoins: If you enable non-stablecoins such as BTC or ETH as collateral, their collateral value will fluctuate with market conditions. If market prices decline, the value of your collateral may decrease, reducing your available margin and potentially triggering liquidation, even if your futures position itself is not at a loss.

4. How to keep your classic account

Option 1: Request to keep your account before the upgrade, by September 14, 2026
If you wish to keep your classic account, submit your user ID through customer support by September 14, 2026. The platform will retain the classic account for the specified user ID. If you have multiple user IDs, include all of them in your request.
Option 2: Switch back after the upgrade, main accounts only
If your main account has already been upgraded, you can switch back to a classic account through the following page: How to switch back to a classic account?
Sub-accounts cannot switch back after the upgrade. Submit a request to keep your classic account in advance.
