Trump Denies Awareness of Justice Department's Fed Subpoena
In an interview with NBC News, U.S. President Donald Trump stated he was unaware of the Justice Department's decision to subpoena the Federal Reserve. Commenting on Fed Chair Jerome Powell, Trump remarked, "I have no information about this, but I don't think he's particularly effective at the Fed, nor is he skilled in construction."
Jerome Powell revealed that the Justice Department had threatened the central bank with possible criminal charges following his June testimony regarding renovations at the Fed. He explained, "Facing criminal prosecution is a direct result of the Federal Reserve making interest rate decisions based on our independent evaluations..."
