Data: In 2025, approximately 11% of seized funds in the crypto sector will be illicit, with a recovery rate 55 times higher than that of fiat currency.
Jinse Finance reported that on May 16, an exchange Research posted on X stating that approximately 11% of illicit crypto funds are expected to be recovered or frozen in 2025, a recovery rate 55 times higher than that of the fiat currency system. This data is sourced from public law enforcement actions disclosed by Tether, Interpol, T3 Financial Crime Unit, and others, rather than being an estimate from a single organization. For comparison: The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) estimates that less than 1% of the world’s illicit fiat funds are recovered each year. Even excluding the special case of about $15 billion in BTC from the Prince Group case, the crypto asset recovery rate in 2025 will still be about ten times that of the fiat system. According to data from SlowMist and PeckShield, about 8.3%–13.2% of stolen funds are expected to be recovered or frozen in 2025, demonstrating the quick response and close cooperation among exchanges, issuers, and law enforcement agencies.
