Trump Orders SEC to Review Proxy Advisory Firm Rules
Jinse Finance reported that U.S. President Trump has issued an executive order attempting to limit the influence of proxy advisory firms, as part of his efforts to weaken the ability of third-party institutions to affect the decision-making of listed companies. The executive order, released on Thursday, instructs the SEC Chairman to review rules and regulations related to proxy advisory firms and to consider revising or rescinding those rules, regulations, guidance documents, announcements, and memoranda that are inconsistent with the purpose of this order, especially in areas involving "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)" and "Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG)" policies.
