Virtuals Launches Agent Commerce Protocol to Boost Autonomous Commerce Ecosystems

On February 19th, Virtuals released an open standard called Agent Commerce Protocol (ACP), aimed at promoting innovative development of multi-agent commerce and collaboration. The protocol relies on blockchain technology to build a framework that supports the collaborative operation of multiple autonomous commercial entities. Virtuals envisions creating an autonomous commercial network composed of information agents, transaction agents, etc., such as autonomous hedge fund businesses, media businesses composed of Luna music agents and video agents, and healthcare businesses composed of diagnostic agents, pharmaceutical agents, and insurance agents. These agents can build economic value and fill gaps in collaboration based on their respective professional fields.

 

Unlike traditional single systems, ACP collaborates with independent specialized agents to integrate their unique data models, datasets, and action spaces, thereby generating greater economic value. However, Virtuals also points out that agents may face problems such as information loss, misunderstanding, data missing, or inference hallucination in independent operation, especially in complex many-to-many environments, where these problems may rapidly expand. To address this challenge, ACP introduces a smart contract mechanism to ensure smooth and reliable transactions between agents and optimize collaboration efficiency. Virtuals believes that this architecture will give birth to an autonomous business ecosystem with overall economic value far exceeding the sum of individuals, marking the evolution of business models towards higher autonomy and collaboration.
