Opinion: Microsoft refuses to invest in BTC possibly because most shareholders value asset stability more
On December 15th, Microsoft investors rejected the proposal to purchase Bitcoin. Gracy Chen, CEO of cryptocurrency exchange Bitget, said this was expected as most Microsoft shareholders likely value the stability of this software giant's assets and stated: "Microsoft's investment in Bitcoin could mean facing additional risks. Many people invest in Microsoft because it is a predictable good business. For shareholders who are building their own diversified investment portfolio, mixing cryptocurrencies and other assets into the company's balance sheet may complicate the company's valuation and distract from the core business objectives of those buying its stock."
In addition, for companies wanting to replicate MicroStrategy’s approach, Gracy Chen says caution is necessary. Compared to when MicroStrategy started buying Bitcoin, newcomers face much higher Bitcoin prices.
