K33 Research : Institutional Investor Purchases of Bitcoin ETFs Up 27% in Q2, Focused on IBIT and FBTC
Institutional holdings of BTC ETFs grew steadily in the second quarter, according to Vetle Lunde, senior analyst at K33 Research, in an X today. According to the 13F filing, 1,199 specialty firms held investments in the U.S. spot ETF as of June 30, an increase of 262 from the previous quarter. While retail investors still hold the majority of shares outstanding, institutional investors increased their share of total AUM by 2.41 percentage points and now account for 21.15% in Q2. GBTC saw a significant decrease in institutional capitalization, while the dominance of professional investors in IBIT and FBTC grew significantly.
