Thailand exempts cryptocurrency gains from VAT
The Bangkok Post reported on Wednesday that Thailand's Ministry of Finance has eased regulations by suspending the requirement to charge 7 per cent VAT on cryptocurrency transactions. According to the report, this VAT exemption policy comes into effect on 1 January 2024 with no deadline. The VAT exemption policy for cryptocurrency transactions also applies to brokers and dealers regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
